The Syro-Malankara Catholic church owns the Kurishumala Monastery. The church is situated on top of a hill. On Good Friday, that marks the crucifixion of Jesus Christ, and pilgrims walk up to the monastery while saying their prayers. The devotees consider this as an act of sharing the sufferings that Christ went through.
