Anchuthengu Fort
Fort

A sneak peek into the history of Kerala! The historic Anjengo Fort built in the late 17th century by the East India Company was gifted to the Queen of Attingal. As per the local legend, British were having a hard time pronouncing the name of the town of ‘Anchuthengu’ where the fort was built and instead called it ‘Anjengo’.

The Anchuthengu and Anjengo Fort are one of the most visited places in Varkala. The Anchuthengu town has many old structures including a 100-year-old convent and tombs of soldiers.
