Alleppey Houseboat Cruise Itinerary
We highly recommend you to check-in at 12 noon to enjoy the backwater experience and cruise to the maximum.
First Day
The cruise begins through Punnamada Lake, the venue of the world-famous Nehru Trophy Boat Race. As you enter the mesmerizing waters of the Vembanad Lake, you can enjoy the panoramic vistas of the backwaters, the Coconut palms lining the waters and the glimpses of village life along the banks.
After that, you enter the Marthandam Kayal, and you can visit the ancient church on its banks made by a landlord for his people. Proceed to R-block, where you can see paddy farming done below sea-level. A visit to the Chavara Bhavan-the vintage wood residence in which the blessed Kuriakose Elias Chavara was born is in the itinerary. Lunch is served on the Houseboat.
You now begin cruising towards Kuppapuram, Kannitta, Irumpanam Canal (or similar) and subsequently anchor around 5.30 p.m. for a night stay. If interested, you can try your hand at fishing.
Second Day
The next day after breakfast at 8 a.m., start cruising through the canal & Thathampally Kayal. Finally, you get a drop back at the finishing point. Check out by 9.00 a.m. at Alleppey.
Alleppey Houseboat Route
Starting from Alleppey going through the Vembanad Lake, the cruise will take you through R and C blocks. These are areas in Kuttanad of man-made paddy fields created by reclaiming land from the lake. Here cultivation happens below sea level. The cruise will then pass through Venattukad, Munattumugham, Nedumudi, Chennamkari, Kainakari, and the boat will be docking near Kuppapuram in the evening. The next day the cruise will be starting from Kuppapuram and travelling through Meenapally Kayal, Pallathuruthy and returning to Alleppey.
