Munnar

The Christ Church.
A century-old church, built by the British tea planters in Old Munnar, is a place rich in history. The well preserved CSI church is built in Gothic style using rough-hewn granites. The sides of the church are decorated by stained glasses depicting saints and Biblical characters. Many visitors from Great Britain whose ancestors – prominent British Planters were laid to rest here, visit the church.
The church as it was situated on the hill provided refuge for many people during the massive floods in Munnar in 1924. A visit to Munnar is not complete without going to the church!
